I understand the crazy laser mice who spaz out, I really do. But I never had a problem with accidentally closing something. If you play full screen, put the menu button over it. If you play windowed, learn to use keyboard shortcuts for targeting or make sure your mouse is where you want it to be.

I really don't think it's that big of a problem, and if it was I'd want the option to turn it on/off.

And to magma, you're right. Like if you can't view GWG in Internet explorer, it might be better to go to firefox.
Then either switch to fullscreen, stop randomly clicking near your X button (what is up there anyway that you need to click?) or resize your window horizontally so the X button isnt exactly in the corner and is a bit to the left of it (especially if you have one of those older optical mice that spaz out and go to the corner sometimes).

I don't really mind them implementing a warning thing for x'ing out, but I just don't understand what's so hard about preventing pressing X in the first place for a lot of people. ;o

hmmm, would be kinda nice, but in all honesty? kinda hard to hit that very small spot in the very corner of the screen. prolly doesnt happen often enough to warrant a warning. sorry

i wouldn't mind a warning, since i play most games in windowed mode. and you know - shit happens.

happened to me a few time. I guess i'm careless about it? But I'd like to think that I'm not. As for closing down GW easier... X then hit enter... Geez, was that so hard? But yes, this would save people some grief in the end...

AND BTW, pressing X is not safe if your trying to keep a survivor title.

I've had the mis-click on minimize before as well as having windows opened all over the screen and closed out the client when stabbing at a window etc.

Having a confirmation button will do very little. Why? Habituation. I guarantee that every last person here doesn't even remember half of the confirmation boxes that they've gone through today. You know the recycle bin "Are you sure you want to delete" confirmation? That thing is all but ignored by any and all users. Why? Because 99% of the time you delete without hesitation, and that last 1% you're already pushing the Yes button before you've even realized you just screwed up.

If you repeat an action a few hundred times, exactly the same each time, that 101th time will be absolutely automatic. If you click that upper 'x' 100 times and hit Yes each time, that 101th time that's an accident will still have you clicking Yes automatically.

So, repeat after me: Habituation makes confirmation boxes useless.

My mouse sometimes goes haywire and shoots the pointer to all corners of the screen, so I'm sometimes worried that this would happen. I would use something like this.

The X in the top right closes the application. This is not a design problem. This is a function of practically every application you will ever use on a computer. If it is a design problem, would you also like a confirmation box added to every other application? Windows Explorer, perhaps, could use a "Are you sure you are done looking at the files in this directory?" prompt when you go to close a folder.

I'd personally enjoy the option to hide the buttons entirely, because they are excess screen clutter and I never use them. But a design problem? Hardly.
